The parents of a University of Idaho pupil who was killed along with three others said she had recently moved from the house where the slayings took place in November, simply had gone back to show her shut friend her new machine and nourish a nearby party.
Kristi and Steve Goncalves told Dateline that their daughter, 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves, was due to graduate from college early and had lined up a job with an IT firm in Austin, Texas.
Kaylee Goncalves had just moved out of the business firm she shared with her longtime best friend, 21-year-old Madison "Maddie" Mogen.
"These girls were best friends since sixth grade, similar inseparable," Kristi Goncalves said.
The two had lived together and "were true, ultimate all-time friends," she said. "Maddie had been a huge part of our life."
Kaylee Goncalves, who had just bought a new Range Rover, told her parents she wanted to become back to Moscow, Idaho, to show information technology to Maddie and to attend a nearby party together.
"That was the last time that I saw Kaylee," her mother said.
On Nov. thirteen, Kaylee, Mogen and 2 others were stabbed to decease inside a domicile in the largely rural college community of Moscow.
Also killed in the attack were Ethan Chapin, twenty, of Conway, Washington, and Xana Kernodle, 20, of Avondale, Arizona.
Police arrested a suspect, Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 28, nearly seven weeks later the killings. He has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and felony burglary.

Madison, who requested her final proper noun not be used out of fearfulness of harassment, said she remembered the detailed responses Kohberger gave in the criminology course they took together in 2018.
"Whenever he raised his mitt he definitely took information technology upon himself to reply the question but yet and then give every unmarried detail that he possibly could to aid further his point," she said. "It was always, similar, 'Oh, Bryan'south answering this question. This is gonna accept up the whole entire form.'"
She too thought that Kohberger would "stare" at her and her friends.
"He would stare at us. He definitely had very prominent optics," she said. "I would always grab him staring at us. He wouldn't always really try to 'talk' to usa."
Hayden Stinchfield, a junior in the criminal justice program at WSU, had Kohberger as a didactics assistant.
"He wasn't a super approachable guy," Stinchfield told Dateline, adding that Kohberger was initially a harsh grader.
But that abruptly changed.
"At a certain point, he started just giving everyone 100s and like super loftier marks," he said. "By the end of the semester, no ane was thinking about the little deductions from before."
Stinchfield said that looking back, he believes the change in Kohberger'south grading habits "lines up pretty well" with the time of the killings.
Steve and Kristi Goncalves said they take some condolement in thinking and hoping that their daughter may take helped solve her own death by snatching abroad the knife sheath somewhen used to necktie Kohberger to the killings.
"I promise that maybe in a struggle, she pulled it off of him," Kristi Goncalves said.
"It's a checkmate blazon moment," Steve Goncalves added.
The ii said that they hope for a conviction and the death penalty.
